Health
Organization Management
The
ever-increasing demand for sophisticated management and accountability in the
health care industry requires professionals whose education is strongly based in
business principles. This educational base is most appropriately provided by an
accredited graduate degree in both business and healthcare. The MBA and MD/MBA
Program, in Health Organization Management (HOM), is currently one of only nine
MBA-based programs that are dually accredited by the AACSB International, the
national accrediting organization for business and management programs, and the
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). The MBA and MD/MBA
Program
combines the expertise of faculty members in business, medicine, public
administration, and economics.
Superior
academic training and challenging real world experience have placed Texas Tech
University’s HOM Program among the nation’s premier health care management
programs. As one of the few MBA programs aligned with a School of Medicine, the
HOM Program draws upon the resources and expertise of both the Rawls College of
Business and the School of Medicine. The MBA (HOM) course of study prepares
students for managerial positions in the health care industry, with special
emphasis on medical groups and ambulatory care settings. Texas Tech’s HOM
Program offers a unique view of physicians and administrators working together,
which is not seen at other programs.
MISSION
The Program’s
mission is to provide and integrate education, research, and service related to
the management of health care organizations.
HOM
Program Offerings
By
offering non-degree certificates, graduate level certificates, joint graduate
degree programs and a doctoral level course of study, the HOM Program can
accommodate individuals with varying education, business, and healthcare
backgrounds and experience as they seek to meet their personal objectives.
Because of the unique opportunity afforded by the close proximity of the School
of Medicine, the School of Allied Health, and the Law School, Texas Tech’s
Rawls College of Business is able to offer a variety of programs. These include
the MS (Accounting/HOM), and the MS (MIS/HOM), the joint degrees include the
MD/MBA (HOM) and the JD/MBA (HOM).
