Doctorate of Medicine/MBA (HOM)
As an extension of our highly regarded Health Organization Management program, the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration and the School Of Medicine have joined forces to develop and launch the Doctorate of Medicine/Master of Business Administration (MD/MBA). In this joint program, you will receive both a MD and an MBA degree within your four years of medical school. This program is designed to produce outstanding physicians with greater insight into the intricacies of health care management systems, finance, economics, and delivery. This educational background will give these physicians a more advanced business sense as they develop practices or begin careers in the management of major health care organizations.
The program consists of 51 credit hours of MBA courses coupled with the requirements of the School of Medicine. Students will complete their MBA requirements throughout their time in the medical program. Business courses begin the summer prior to the medical program. To be considered for the MD/MBA joint degree program you must first be accepted by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is NOT required for students in this joint program. Applicants who have not been accepted by the School of Medicine will not be considered for the joint program. Enrollment into this program will be limited to approximately 10 students per year.
